Rabaul is located in East New Britain province and was renowned as being the "Pearl of the Pacific." In 1994 and after the devastating twin volcanic eruptioon that left the town in ruins, it is now better known as the "Pompeii of the Pacific." During the eruption, ash was sent thousands of metres into the air. After the eruption the capital was moved to Kokopo, about 20 kilometres (12 miles) away.
As a fishing and holiday destination, Rabaul offers so many exciting and unique adventures. Whether it be game fishing for Black marlin, jigging for coral trout or bottom fishing for groper and red emperor, fishing in Rabaul can really send bluewater fisherman in to a frenzy!
